Happy (belated) Fourth of July!!
As always, each July 4th we re-read the
Declaration of Independence and marvel at its majesty, wrought despite its
ultimate creation by committee. Despite our many readings, we always wryly note the grievance of "[h]e has created a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance" in light of the massive growth of federal and state governments.
