Today's N.Y. Times reports that "[d]espite a successful campaign by the Bloomberg administration to cut the number of overtime hours worked by city employees, overtime spending continues to rise, an analysis of budget figures shows." Even though overtime hours worked "the 4 percent drop in hours translated into a 3 percent increase in overtime spending — or $10.6 million more — by the Police Department in the fiscal year that ended in June."
